STAR WARS, THE CLONE WARS - MOVIE REVIEW
Star Wars, The Clone Wars
4 Stars
The Clone Wars, an animated Star Wars tale for children, tells a story of the time between Star Wars 2 and Star Wars 3, when the universe was deep into the war.
I liked it. I didn't expect to. The voices of the original actors, for the most part have been replaced, the animation was not what I expected from Lucas Film, and the story was contrived. Yet despite all that, I was sucked right into it.
This film, the predecessor to the animated series that hits TV later this year, sets up the whole premise beautifully, and it adds a new major character Ahsoka Tano, a precocious 14 year old Padawan designed to win the hearts of the young audiences that this series is designed to appeal to.
Changing the live action Star Wars world into an animated one was, I imagine, a daunting task filled with endless choices.
I can see Lucas sitting at his desk worrying over little details like the look of the hair style drawn on Skywalker and the exact size of each explosion.
Check it out if you like the Star Wars universe and can follow it into an animated vision.
